A Secret Sister Tea

On Saturday I had Tea with several dear ladies from my church to celebrate and reveal our secret sisters.  We have had a Secret Sister program for several years as a minisrty to get to know each other better.  Besides writing notes and giving small gifts I encourage the ladies to keep their sister in their daily prayers.  We have such a great group of women who have truly grown to love each other.

Every six months we reveal or Secret Sisters with a special Tea.  On of the places we go for the Tea is the Rooftop Cafe which is part of the British Tea Garden  in Tecumseh, MI.   They prepare a beautiful lunch  with tea and dessert.  I am a big lover of scones so we usually choose those as our dessert option. Everything is always very delicious and the staff is always so helpful and friendly.

If live in the Tecumseh area and are looking for a place to hold a special luncheon or bridal shower I would highly reccomend the Rooftop Cafe.  If you are just looking to go for tea with a friend the British Tea Garden is my favorite.  Many of my tea pictures have been taken here as I  have shared tea here many times with friends and family.

I haven't been doing many  CVS  runs lately and I had some ECB  that were about to expire so I figured I get to CVS and spend them.  Luck would have it in my lastest Self magazine there was a $2 off $10 beauty coupon so it made the deal even sweeter.  After my coupons and ECB I spent 20 cents.  I also got $7 back in ECB.  Now I remember why I love CVS so much.

Time for Tea Tuesday

I am very  fortunate that I have a family that loves tea as much as I do.  We have many memorable times having tea together.  Even my daughter who is six is a tea lover.  Not only does she love to go to tea shops but she actually drinks tea.   The apple falls close to the tree.  I was telling a friend today when my daughter orders tea I usually get looks like is it alright for her to have it.  My answer is always of course. she has her many favorite teas. If you ask he now she will tell you her favorite tea is blood orange.  Last year my mother and I took her for tea after she had her shots for school and she was absolutely grossed out at the thought of blood orange tea.  It is a story and a memory we will have for years to come.

  I feel like having tea with my daughter is a great bonding time.  I hope years form now if she has a little girl we will all be able to share tea together. I so cherish the times we have together. There is so much I can share and teach my daughter over a cup of tea.

Time for Tea Tuesday

While I was visiting with my girlfriend last week in Virginia we went on a search far a tea room where we could have a nice tea together. After a tea room search gone wrong and the help of her GPS we came across this gem of a tea room called the The Pink Bicycle Tea Room in Occoquan, VA.

The owner Lisa was wonderful and made is feel very welcome. The tea room was in an old home that was very quaint and comfortable. We all had a large pot of our tea of choice and we had fun sharing our teas with each other. Carmelita and I both had the the cottage tea which included a cup if soup tea sandwiches and a scone with cream and jam. It was just enough. Lisa made her own fresh scones and they were huge and very delicious. My daughter had the Princess Tea which was included Apple & Cheese Plate, a fresh baked scone served with Clotted Cream & Jam or Curd Tea Sandwiches, Petite Dessert, Fresh Fruit. It was presented beautifully and she loved it.

We had such a delightful afternoon. I can't wait to go back to Virginia not only to see my best friend but to be able to return to the The Pink Bicycle to have tea. If you are in the Washington DC area and looking for a great place for tea, this is your place.

Yanni Voices

Thanks to the One2One Network I got a chance to listen to the new Yanni Voices CD. I had heard a lot of buzz about these 4 artists and wanted to catch the Yanni Voices PBS special but missed it on my local station so I was excited to receive the CD.

Yanni Voices unveils 4 new amazing vocal artists. Nathan Pacheco, Chloe, Ender Thomas and Leslie Mills, have all been discovered and produced by Yanni and Wake. Their voices are beautiful and really add to the overall experience of the CD . Their voices soar throughout the CD, evoking incredible beauty and emotion. I enjoy listening to them all put I find myself drawn to the songs sung by Leslie Mills. If you are a fan of Yanni you will want to check out this CD. I myself have never listened to much Yanni but I am really enjoying this CD and I enjoy listening to it when I am by myself and trying to unwind. It always goes good with a cup of tea.

Last Minute Easter Ideas

Easter is only 2 days away and if you are like me you still have some shopping left to do to get your kids Easter Baskets ready. As much as I love Chocolate I hate to fill my kids Easter Baskets with candy. We have a big Easter Egg Hunt at church so I know they will getting enough candy to last for a long time. I think we may even have some of last years Easter candy left in the pantry. Here are a couple of toys that my kids received recently that would be a great addition to any Easter Basket.

My son is nine and it getting hard to find him gifts that are not electronic or involve video games. I can always count on Nerf. He loves so many Nerf products and this Vortex Mega Howler is no exception. I love that it gets him outside and gets him active. I also love that it is not gun related and he and his friends or sister can have fun throwing it to each other.

My daughter is a stuff animal lover. She has wanted a real Yorkie so long so this little FURREAL FRIENDS Teacup Pup was a perfect match for her. I am hoping this will keep her satisfied since her daddy is against getting a real dog. This dog has become a new stuffed animal favorite. This Teacup Pup pet has an animated head and comes in its very own stylish carrier, so she can take her puppy with her wherever she goes. This pup also has sound effects which make it seem even more real and that much more adorable.

Leslie Patricelli Book Review

We love books at our house. My daughter is just learning to read she loves books with repetition. I was so excited to get the new books by Leslie Patricelli in the mail thanks to Team Mom. I decided to keep the Higher Higher book for my daughter and share Baby Happy Baby Sad with my friend's 1 year old. My daughter had fun reading it to him and he was very taken in my the pictures.

Leslie Patricelli is the author and illustrator of a delightful series of bright and engaging children's board books and full-length picture books. Kids love Leslie's Stories because they are fun and silly and parents love them because they teach simple concepts while introducing reading as a fun family activity.

The Bald diaper clad baby is the star of Baby Happy Baby Sad and her other board books giving a fresh take on everyday activities. It has received the Scripps-Howard Best Children's Books of the Year. This book is perfect for toddlers and retails for $6.99

Higher! Higher! is an ingenious picture book of very few words. It expresses the giddy glee of being pushes in a swing. It is for a slightly older audience than the board books but still get for toddlers and those just starting school. It retails for $15.99

I have to admit when I first saw the books I wasn't thrilled with the repetition of the same words but the pictures were so fun and delightful I felt myself being pulled in to the books. My daughter enjoyed them and enjoyed having them read to her as well as reading them herself. As a mom these books get my seal of approval

Time for Tea~Tea With My Best Friend

My best friend and I love to have tea together. This picture was taken last year when I was visiting her in California soon after she had her baby. It was a good afternoon to get Mom out of the house and share a cup of tea together. Even the baby was great and let us enjoy our time together. We have a similar picture that was taken at a tea shop in Michigan soon after my daughter was born. I am visiting her now in Virginia and tomorrow we plan to take my daughter and the 3 of us visit a Victorian tea room to have a special afternoon together. No matter where we are we try to find time to go for tea together and finding new tea rooms is part of the fun.
